the blog
This is the journal of an architect. It’s called no, 2 self - a play on ‘note to self’ and a reminder to keep it from being too self centred. It’s about things that matter to me but I only post something if I feel have something to give to you. The newsfeed for it is here: RSS syndication. If you subscribe to this you’ll get a combination of words, links, sounds and pictures. The theme? I’m an architect, so that should give you a clue, but like centuries of architects before me I claim an interest in any topic that I decide is relevant. Which is most of them.
Between 2003 and 2006 this blog ran on blosxom software at the url: http://rob.annable.co.uk. All the posts from that period can still be visited under the original address. At the time I chose blosxom because it had just the right level of hacking to keep me enthusiastic about creating something, and the raw .txt file format stopped me worrying about locking my data into a soon to be defunct platform.
Only one thing proved a problem - comment spam. Having open comments is, in my opinion, a vital part of the blogging environment and being forced to switch them off from time to time grieved me.
The site now uses WordPress, and so far it’s done a fantastic job of keeping spammers at bay.
